KLJUČna šola

The KLJUČna šola (KEY School) program contains three different types of prevention workshops, namely KEY School for boys, KEY School for girls and KEY for life.

The KEY school for boys and KEY school for girls workshops are intended for students of secondary or vocational schools. They are carried out in form of conversation hours, and for optimal performance  various tools are used to encourage open conversation about taboo topics.

Among other things, during the workshops feature films are used, which were recorded for the purpose of the project. They expose all the stereotypes about pornography and prostitution, which the wider social environment reinforces with tolerance for the growing number of businesses (night bars, massage parlors, wellness centers), where the so-called oldest craft is practiced under the guise of the declared activity. Throughout workshops we are closely interactive with the participants, and films are mainly used to build a clear conversational structure between performers and participants.

Prostitution and pornography have a negative impact on relationships and understanding of the concept of consensual sex among young people. The aim of the workshops is to talk separatly to male and female students of the secondary schools about topics that are key to healthy interpersonal relationships and safe sex. The goal of the program is to challenge the participants through conversation and video materials to think about the stereotypes produced by the culture of pornography showing in recent years mostly violent and unprotected sex that is freely available on the Internet, as well as the promotion of prostitution as sex work.

Also, the purpose of the program is to overcome the stereotype of prostitution and pornography and  understand what prostitution in its essence is, so in the long run the demand for sexual services is reduced and  the concepts of consent in sexual and partner relationships better presented and internalized.

Among the boys, the prevailing opinion is that prostitution is a form of work that a special type of women chooses to do. They generally think, that  actresses in porn films are celebrities who enjoy in this profession, while there is no insight into the fact that the majority of (freely) available pornography is actually the result of abuse, addiction, and also a path to human trafficking for women, who are first in one way or another forced to make those movies, which are then used to blackmail them into other activities.

Furthermore, the aim is to empower young girls to overcome gender stereotypes and social roles that are suggested to them by social and other media, family environment and young boys who impose their expectations and expected behaviors on them and interfere with their personal and physical boundaries, especially in the area of sexuality . The key goal is to encourage girls and boys through conversation to recognize personal boundaries, learn to set them also in relationships, and seek help if they feel that they are victims of various forms of violence.

The program KLJUČna šola (KEY School) is an original program of the Society Ključ, intended to inform young girls and boys (KEY School for girls and KEY School for boys) about consensual and safe sex, the harmfulness of pornography and prostitution, and respectful interpersonal relationships.

The program started in 2019, when as part of the KEY School for Boys project, co-funded by the MDDSZ, as well as leaflets a brochure aimed at younger readers was made.

As part of the project, 48 preventive workshops were held, which were attended by 806 boys.

In 2022, 46 debate hours of the KEY school for young people were held in the Municipality of Ljubljana, which were attended by 770 students. You can read more about that at the KEY youth school 2022

The KEY to life workshops address young men and women across Slovenia. Conversation classes aim to tackle topics such as non-violent relationships, safe and consensual sex, safe night life for young people, learning to set personal boundaries and respect personal boundaries of others.
