On Tuesday 19 March 2024, together with Delavska svetovalnica (Workers' Advice Centre) and U.S. Embassy Ljubljana held a one-day event titled Forced labour — identifying and prosecuting the offence in Slovenia. Our keynote guest was the American judge Taryn A. Merkl, who works in the field of anti-trafficking.

Contributions came from Jože Levašič, Senior District State Prosecutor; Damjana Slapar Burkat, Director of the Supervision Directorate at the Financial Administration; and Goran Lukić, President of Delavska svetovalnica. The discussion was moderated by Dr Danijela Frangež.

Different perspectives and dilemmas came to the surface, the challenges faced by different actors in their work were set out, and we certainly came away with new information and knowledge.

What pleases us most is that we connected with people from many different fields who care and who are working hard in their own areas. We would like many more events like it.

The event was held with the financial support of U.S. Embassy Ljubljana, City of Ljubljana and the Foundation for Disability and Humanitarian Organisations.
