On Monday 21 December 2020 at 6 p.m. there will be live on Facebook and Zoom the launch of the collection on empathy titled “Because we care — how adults can teach children the experience of empathetic responsiveness”. The conversation with the authors will be led by Dr Albert Mrgole.
Across TOM's thirty years of work, meeting children's distress, difficulties and questions, we want to make one point: empathy is the first and most important answer. To mark the anniversary, TOM's supervisors have produced a publication titled “Because we care — how adults can teach children the experience of empathetic responsiveness”.
The collection is divided into sections covering four areas of children's and young people's everyday lives:
1. Empathy between peers,
2. Empathy between parents and children,
3. Empathy at school and in other institutions,
4. Empathy towards oneself.
The collection is meant to inspire everyone who raises children, works with them or has influence over them. Through suggestions for responding more empathetically in concrete situations, we hope to spark your own creativity. Life is constant adjustment, and every moment gives us a chance to teach children and young people empathy — drawn from their lives, for the life we share.
You can follow the launch live on the Facebook pages of the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth, TOM Telefon, Društvo Ključ, Prava zveza and Pritličje. (Link coming soon!)
A recording of the event will also remain available on Pritličje's YouTube channel.
Do tune in!
The event is part of the Prava zveza project and is funded by the City of Ljubljana Show less
